Objectives of the Department

To stimulate in the student the ease and enjoyment in the study of Mathematics and Statistics so as to develop the appreciation of the role of these subjects in the student’s daily actuations.
To develop in the student the recognition of the value of Mathematics and Statistics as a mode of thinking that would serve as a tool for scientific and logical thinking.
To promote in the study of Mathematics and Statistics as a view or strategy that would develop the student’s desire to study advanced courses in these fields, or pursue individual or collaborative research endeavors.
To prepare the student for graduate work, in teaching or in research, both in pure or in applied Mathematics and Statistics.
To produce morally upright, environmentally responsible and peaceable graduates who are well – equipped to teach and to conduct research and extension activities.
To produce highly competent graduates who will qualify to any Mathematics or Statistics- related jobs and opportunities.
